Premiership 2013/14

Badge image
Here we go, men. The start of the Premier League season is days away.

I will be at Anfield for the early kick off; beer first half, bovril second half. Always. Probably play out a draw against Mark Hughes' free flowing Stoke outfit.

What are you fine gents saying about the ensung season then? Chelsea will win it says I. United, Citeh, Arsenal completing the top four. Spurs will lose Bale to Madrid shortly but still beat Liverpool to 5th in another forgetful season for us.

Cardiff, Hull and Palace straight back down I reckon. Though I would more so enjoy it if Villa, West Ham or Stoke were to in fact fall.

Hurrah. Football.

I'd agree Liverpool aren't there yet. I would, however, anticipate them challenging Arsenal. I'd say 5th for Liverpool, 6th for Arsenal. Liverpool are probably another 3 or 4 quality signings short, and even then hoping that those signings remain fit throughout most of the season, or available against the top teams at least.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Was there a game on Sunday? Can't quite remember the score.

Now I mention it, a side with no quality in it seemed to beat Man Citeh? Nah, can't have happened.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

So Mourinho hasn't put a striker in the team in tonight's match with Man Utd but I'm not surprised I think The Special One is confident Rooney WILL go to London before 2nd September.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Badge image
That would have nothing to do with it Jamie, end of the day it's a match and a match he's looking to win. He's not left strikers out to make a point, he's done it as he feels it's the best set up. Considering it's still 0-0 and both teams have had some chances, it's working out. The team he set up is fully capable of scoring goals so hardly think it's a "Look Rooney, we have no strikers, come and fill that slot in for us". Torres is on as well now.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Chelsea were content with the draw as the game was finishing since they are top of the table. He should have started Mata, but this helps my citizens since we'll recover to beat Hull. Plenty of games still to play so we'll see how it goes

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Cardiff are the new Stoke? The old 10-0-0 formation.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

If it works, it works, end of the day their main goal for this season will be to stay up, they won't want to go straight back down, so if defending and counter attacking is how they will stay up, then fair play on them. They will want to establish themselves as a premier league team so they can attract better talent. Swansea managed to do it a bit quicker than normal but that's because they arguably play the best football in the league, a very attractive style and if I were a footballer I'd certainly be interested in playing for them.

As long as the team is looking to develop then fair play, end of the day they were playing a team who've spent £90m on new players, £90m is more than Cardiff's entire XI and the bench. They managed a result, playing their own style, and to be fair it made the match quite exciting to watch.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Swansea has average defense

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Good match between Liverpool and Man Utd. I think that shows Liverpool could be in for the title and definitely in the top 4. All without Suarez at the moment too.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

they wont win the title, my citizens are more explosive. Liver can finish top four though.

Zero £ spent 1---105 million£ spent 0. Might want to keep monkey boy spud fans. :)

Re: Premiership 2013/14

It was one game, I'm not worried. Yes, we lost, but we dominated. We do have a clear problem with the final pass, but the team still needs to gel together yet. I'm quite happy, over the season I expect massive improvement in the performances once everyone's settled. Last two times we visited the Emirates we lost 5-2, so losing 1-0 isn't the end of the world, there's still 35 games to go yet. Arsenal are thread bare in terms of players they can rely on, we've got plenty of players to get us through each week, regardless of injuries, and can field different teams for cups and league competition, whereas Arsenal, if they want to perform well in the Champions League, will struggle to cope.

I wait in anticipation to see what unfolds over the season.

Hardly 10-0-0. Only an idiot would throw 6 forward when opposition have the ball.

Still, it's got to be jealousy as we'd murder any Australian side.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

United may finish top four, but I see a realistic 5th place finish

Medel made another bad challenge and was lucky not to have the penalty given. It was obviously a bad challenge.

I have no doubt Cardiff would beat all Australian teams. Australian football teams are shit and always will be as its our 4th football code. Funny thing is, we made it to the world Cup... When's the last time Wales did that even with Bale, Giggs etc? Jealous? :)

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Anyone care to assist with this weekend's predictions? Strictly average in this seasons predictions league so far. Every Little Helps as Tesco remind us.

Man Utd 3 - 0 Crystal Palace
Aston Villa 1 - 1 Newcastle
Fulham 2 - 1 West Brom
Hull 2 - 2 Cardiff
Stoke 0 - 1 Man City
Sunderland 0 - 2 Arsenal
Tottenham 2 - 0 Norwich
Everton 1 - 2 Chelsea
Southampton 2 - 1 West Ham
Swansea 1 - 2 Liverpool

Says I.

Jealous of playing in an incredibly weak group at the time? So many Oceanic greats. Australia would never qualify if they had to play in Europe.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Wales never get through Europe either.

You can watch us in Brazil.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Badge image
The quality of team is only slightly better in Asia looking at those groups. Jordan, Oman, Iraq? You lot should have had six wins minimum, not three.

Even we'd do better. And thst's with a shit manager.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Think we might have drifted ever so slightly off topic gents.

come on lads, hug it out

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Matt: to be fair, the PL is on international break, not much to talk about during that.

Hoping Palaca finally get a win - they've been so close so far and I'd love it to be against United.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Badge image
Cmon Gunners, just wanna see for how long our streak can go on for, excited about Ozil whether he will play from start or not. And for my sake of my fantasy team, Lambert better smash the Hammers with a hattrick ;)

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Badge image
The pointless internationals that I don't care for are over and the Premier League is back! Got to love the weekend!

Re: Premiership 2013/14

2-0 Win for the Spurs in a dominant performance and Chelsea lost whilst City drew, very happy. Bale has also just equalised for Real, quite happy =)

Re: Premiership 2013/14

I wouldn't 1-2 be a Manchester fan tonight, feel 3-2 laugh at them!

Re: Premiership 2013/14

my citizens can't play on the road for some reason, have to beat everton and go from there

It seems West Ham have had a good start to the season. I know we lost at Hull yesterday, but being only 2 points behind Man Utd we must be doing well :)

Remind everybody what Man Yoo's record was at the start of Fergie's reign.

Assuming you were born then.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

The Evertonisation of Man Utd is almost complete.

1) Hire Moyes
2) Fire staff and replace with Everton staff
3) Buy rubbish Everton player
4) Lose to Liverpool in the league
5) Settle in mid table

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Mid Table = 1 place either above or below Liverpool for the past 4 seasons. ;)

Good draw today for Spurs! Crazy to think we are sitting in 9th, but only 3 points from a CL spot. Gonna be a tight table all season I would assume!

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Badge image
Thoughts just past the half way stage, men?

Exceptionally close around the top and bottom 8 really with a few sitting in between comfortably. Big questions:

1) How big a loss is Theo for Arsenal?
2) Who will Man Yoo sign in January?
3) Can Citeh sort out their away form?
4) Is Sherwood the right man for Spurs?
5) Do Chelsea have the consistency? Particularly players like Hazard!
6) Can the fit again SaS push Liverpool as close as they have every ever come? Is this the best partnership in the world right now?

The answers to these questions will surely shape the season.

Re: Premiership 2013/14

Badge image
1) Giroud needs to get back to his early season form or Theo is a huge loss. Arsenal will run out of steam
2) Someone suitable for Everton, not Man Utd. Moyes needs to realise he's now playing with trucks used for mining, not matchbox trucks.
3) Away form will get better, but home form won't remain as strong with the hectic schedule they'll be playing
4) Not much they can do... they basically squandered the 100mil or whatever Bale brought in.
5) Depends on their schedule.
6) They are by far the best partnership in the PL and probably the world currently. I'd say Negredo/Aguero is next best.

Kind of tough to say the league is any ones at this point. The table is much too close, with 17 match days to go.

Seems to me that Man Utd are the new Liverpool Lmao,

Man city has a good chance of winning it, and i Fing hate chelsea
