Mentality

Mentality affects how your team will play a match. In the old Simulator your mentality (attacking, balanced or defensive) would decide how aggressively your team positioned itself on the field. In the new Simulator the mentality you choose also effects how your team plays under different circumstances, as well as their position on the field.

In addition to your orders to the team, the current score of the game will affect how your team plays.
A team that is ahead by a few goals, will tend to play more carefully and not risk as much during attack.

During the last ten minutes of each half, all teams will look to take the attacking opportunities they see, regardless of the score.

Defensive

We play it safe and only rarely try to score. We try to contain the ball, and keep many players between our own goal and the ball.

Balanced

Balanced play means we will position ourselves neutrally on the field (compared to defensive or attacking) and try to keep a good balance between attacking and defending.

We will try to score goals when good opportunities present themselves.

If we are losing we’ll become more likely to attack, but without taking excessive risks in defense.

Attacking

Attacking is our most aggressive mentality and we will be encouraged to move forward when we can. In this mode, our defenders are keen to support the attack, and the opposition may be able to take advantage of our defender's behavior. With this mentality we are more likely create chances but it also leaves us exposed at the back, so use it carefully.

Alternate formations and tactical rules.

If you enjoy the tactical part of ManagerZone, we encourage you to try the alternative formations and create rules to trigger them. The rules allow you to control your team and to react to events that occur in the match. If you are behind after 10 minutes in a game, then consider changing your formation or team mentality, to either try and win the match, or to reduce the amount of goals you might concede.

In the final 10 minutes of each half, your team is more likely to attack, consider adjusting your formation to take advantage, or to counter your opposition.
