What stats are important for which positions?

Below are examples of player roles and Primary or Secondary stats. Form and experience are always important. Great players will have high values in all stats. Great players will also be able to operate in more positions on the pitch.

Strikers

Short passing tactics
Your strikers will generally score with their feet, from ground passes.
Primary stats:

  • Shooting
  • Ball Control
  • Intelligence
  • Speed

Secondary stats:

  • Stamina
  • Passing (this is a key stat for a link striker)

Wing play tactics
Your strikers will generally score with their head, from aerial passes.
Primary stats:

  • Heading
  • Ball Control
  • Intelligence
  • Speed

Secondary stats:

  • Stamina
  • Shooting
  • Passing (this is a key stat for a link striker)

Long ball tactics
Your strikers will score with their head and their feet, depending on the final ball delivered.
Primary stats:

  • Shooting
  • Heading
  • Ball Control
  • Intelligence
  • Speed

Secondary stats:

  • Stamina
  • Passing (this is a key stat for a link striker)

Wingers

Short passing tactics
Not applicable, as they will play as midfielders.

Wing play tactics
Your wingers will create and score goals. Narrow wingers will pass more along the ground, wider wingers will cross the ball more.
Primary stats:

  • Speed
  • Stamina
  • Aerial passing
  • Ball Control
  • Intelligence

Secondary stats:

  • Shooting
  • Passing (this is a key stat for a narrow winger)

Long ball tactics
Not applicable, as they will play as midfielders.


Midfielders

Short passing tactics
Your midfielders will generally pass along the ground. Depending on their position, offensive, wide, defensive, will alter the priority for their skills. They will look to intercept opposition passes.
Primary stats:

  • Ball Control
  • Passing
  • Intelligence
  • Stamina
  • Speed

Secondary stats:

  • Shooting
  • Tackling (key stat for all midfielders, key for defensive midfielders)

Wing play tactics

Long ball tactics
Your midfielders will generally pass directly either along the ground or in the air. Depending on their position, offensive, wide, defensive, will alter the priority for their skills. They will look to intercept opposition passes.

Secondary stats:

  • Stamina (key stat for fullbacks and wingbacks)
  • Passing
  • Ball Control
  • Heading

Wing play tactics
Your defenders will look to win the ball in 1 vs 1 situations, and to close down opposition strikers and wingers.
Primary stats:

  • Speed
  • Tackling
  • Intelligence

Secondary stats:

  • Stamina (key stat for fullbacks and wingbacks)
  • Passing
  • Ball Control
  • Heading

Long ball tactics
Your defenders will look to win the ball in 1 vs 1 situations, and to close down opposition strikers and wingers. They will look to start attacking moves through direct passes to forward players.
Primary stats:

  • Intelligence

Secondary stats:

  • Stamina (key stat for fullbacks and wingbacks)

  • Ball Control
  • Heading


Goal Keepers

Short passing/Wings/Long Ball tactics
Your goal keeper will look to prevent goals by blocking shots, holding the ball after a shot, narrowing the angle opposing players have when trying to score. They will try to start attacking moves by distributing the ball after a save or from a goal kick.

  • Ball control

Secondary stats:

  • Aerial passing
  • Passing
