New Sim vs Old Sim

Player attributes - what do they do?

It is important for your players to have the right attributes for the role you want them to play in your team. The information below will give you an insight into how player stats/attributes worked in the old Simulator and how we want them to work now.

For example shooting - players with higher shooting skills will have a better chance to score than players with lower shooting skills. Other factors will also affect their scoring chances, including the skill of the opposing goalkeeper.

Fernando Torres would have a shooting skill of 9 or 10, but as Chelsea fans can see, that doesn't mean he will always score.

Age, experience and quality

As players grow older they will change. Most of them will improve as they train every day, to a point where they start to get old and sadly become worse again. On the other hand, with age comes experience, especially from playing important games during their career.

In football, great teams blend youth and experience; the Arsenal Invincibles of 2003/04 had a mix of players:

Lehmann 32, Lauren 25, Campbell 29, Touré 23, Cole 23, Ljungberg 27, Vieira 28, Gilberto 28, Pirès 30, Bergkamp 33, Henry 28, Reyes 20, Edu 28, Clichy 18, Bentley 19, Fàbregas 17, Parlour 30, Cygan 29, Wiltord 29.

As someone once said, ‘if you're good enough, you're old enough.’

Cesc Fàbregas won the World Cup aged 22 years. In the old Simulator, he would have had to wait until he was 32. Not every player in the world is Cesc Fàbregas or Messi, just as not all young players in ManagerZone are great. If you have good young players, perhaps you have found your own star of the future.

Don’t expect them to play well in every game as great players still take time to mature and develop.

If you have worked hard on your training and selection policy, you will be rewarded.
