Vinzent Lyngers charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vinzent Lyngers the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 19th minute, one of U21 Denmark:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for U21 Denmark. After a rather tough play, U21 Denmark's Cornelius Møbius got a free kick in the 22nd minute. If Ciro Meendez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Leopold Bønsøe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ciro Meendez in the 23rd minute. U21 Denmark's Jose Brejnebøl got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to U21 Mexico getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Raul Gabino hit a great ball. 37 minutes into the match, U21 Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Klement Terkelskov came free, but Candido Endira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jose Brejnebøl was the one to do the kick off. After 51 minutes, Evaristo Ralondo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Mexico and the U21 Denmark players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of U21 Denmark booed when U21 Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evaristo Ralondo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jose Brejnebøl's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Candido Endira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Candido Endira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Max Rungsted in the 58th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henning Riddersholm during the 60th minute. In the 79th minute Birger Braag shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Candido Endira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the U21 Mexico defense, Birger Braag kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Candido Endira. The U21 Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Candido Endira should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, U21 Denmark's Cornelius Møbius got a free kick in the 81st minute. Birger Braag sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leopold Bønsøe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciro Meendez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When U21 Denmark's Birger Braag in the 87th minute got a chance for a shot 87th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Mexico's goalie prevented a goal. Birger Braag who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 89thth minute tested the skills of Candido Endira when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Candido Endira was a little too slow when Birger Braag got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 91st minute. The score was now 1-2. Leopold Bønsøe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciro Meendez in the 96th minute of the match.
