After 18 minutes, Dušan Tadić made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. U21 Mexico's Florentino Toro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, U21 Serbia's Jevtimije Gagić got control of the ball when Osvaldo Urbasa tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Big Ben ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Florentino Toro was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Dušan Tadić scored 0-6 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Florentino Toro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 27th minute, Junior Shevchenko left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Serbia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-7. In the 31st minute, Junior Shevchenko ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Florentino Toro was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-8. Dušan Tadić received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Florentino Toro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dušan Tadić in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Florentino Toro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 39 played minutes U21 Serbia got a freekick which was hit by Todor Zakić. Nereo Lorenz hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. U21 Mexico's Florentino Toro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nemanja Vidić in the 44th minute of play. If Junior Shevchenko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nereo Lorenz kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. In the 48th minute, Nemanja Vidić sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and U21 Mexico's Florentino Toro didn't even have to move. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-8.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Junior Shevchenko was the one to do the kick off. Dušan Tadić who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 56thth minute tested the skills of Florentino Toro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 58th match minute, U21 Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabian Virila to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Nemanja Vidić from long distance, 59 minutes into the match, got Florentino Toro's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 60th minute, Romulo Garikoitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dušan Tadić took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Florentino Toro. Florentino Toro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-10. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Mexico's zone, Dušan Tadić stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Florentino Toro came out of the goal and Dušan Tadić tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. U21 Serbia's Strahinja Sekulić was substituted for Todor Zakić. U21 Serbia made a substitution. Jovan Stanojević replaced Marko Kirkov. After some careless play in the U21 Mexico defense, Jebo Kara kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Florentino Toro. The U21 Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Florentino Toro should have stopped the shot. Osvaldo Urbasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jevtimije Gagić read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. After 75 minutes of play, U21 Serbia's Big Ben made it 0-12 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net.
