In the 14th minute, Lucho Herrera hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Silverio Diegotxe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leonidas Smith's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Hermengildo Haimar managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Hermengildo Haimar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilberto De Gracia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lucho Herrera kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. A collision led to U21 Panama getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Jose Corral hit a great ball. When Sergio Mora fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Panama's protests and gave Sergio Mora a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of U21 Mexico booed when U21 Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sergio Mora didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arsenio Eufemio in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilberto De Gracia saved U21 Panama from getting behind. Leonidas Smith took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Silverio Diegotxe. Silverio Diegotxe dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. U21 Panama's Gilberto De Gracia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Panama from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jose Corral in the 39th minute of play forced U21 Mexico's goalkeeper Silverio Diegotxe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gilberto De Gracia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arsenio Eufemio in the 43rd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leonidas Smith during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Leonidas Smith hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After 47 played minutes U21 Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Tobias Jax. A collision led to U21 Mexico getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Tobias Jax hit a great ball.

If Demetrius Playo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. U21 Mexico's Silverio Diegotxe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Demetrius Playo in the 57th minute of play. With an all-out effort, U21 Panama's Silverio Diegotxe threw himself towards the right post 59 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Demetrius Playo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 63 minutes into the match, U21 Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Saturnino Botello came free, but Gilberto De Gracia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sergio Mora might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Silverio Diegotxe. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sergio Mora ran back to his position shaking his head. U21 Panama's Enrique Dely was substituted for Emiliano Henriguez. After taking down the ball on U21 Panama's corner Ramon Ulloa fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Silverio Diegotxe quite easily take care of the ball. The supporters of U21 Panama booed when U21 Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hermengildo Haimar didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Panama's zone, Leandro Chago stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilberto De Gracia came out of the goal and Leandro Chago tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hermengildo Haimar kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. U21 Panama's Gilberto De Gracia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermengildo Haimar in the 97th minute of play. The U21 Panama players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
