Seating: 236, VIP seats: 20) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ralph Zünd started the match with the kick off. When Thomas Batliner came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the U21 Liechtenstein fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thomas Batliner couldn't finish the play. 5 minutes into the game, Thomas Batliner was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Liechtenstein's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Switzerland the free kick. After a rather tough play, U21 Liechtenstein's Thomas Batliner got a free kick in the 5th minute. After 10 minutes, Benjy Dreher mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Switzerland and the U21 Liechtenstein players grew even worse after the yellow card. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Nigg having to interfere. In the 20th minute, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Flavio Nigg. The goal made the score 1-0. Hieronymus Gilardi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ralph Zünd in the 24th minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, U21 Liechtenstein's goalkeeper Flavio Nigg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Peter Tosi. Flavio Nigg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Flavio Nigg made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Peter Tosi sent off a good shot on target. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored 2-0 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Flavio Nigg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 44th minute, Lukas Dupuy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Flavio Nigg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
U21 Switzerland's Casimir Wickihalter was substituted for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Peter Tosi to make the kick off. Flavio Nigg came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Switzerland's Alwin Känel. But to his dismay, Alwin Känel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Ralph Zünd struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Hieronymus Gilardi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Liechtenstein. Flavio Nigg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Casimir Wickihalter's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. Flavio Nigg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casimir Wickihalter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 74 minutes, Kenan Ott mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Liechtenstein and the U21 Switzerland players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 74 played minutes U21 Liechtenstein got a freekick which was hit by Kenan Ott. Flavio Nigg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugene Feiss, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. 78 minutes into the match, Casimir Wickihalter had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Flavio Nigg. U21 Liechtenstein's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Casimir Wickihalter was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. 88 minutes into the game, Angel-Enrique De La Rosa-Choca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Switzerland's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Liechtenstein the free kick. Angel-Enrique De La Rosa-Choca kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. 91 minutes into the game, Thomas Batliner recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Hieronymus Gilardi. Thomas Batliner showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 6-1. Flavio Nigg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jürgen Rondinelli, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. U21 Switzerland had played much better football throughout.
