The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Armas Lander got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 0-1. 17 minutes into the match. 25 minutes into the game, U21 Venezuela's Armas Lander nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Afonso Sisquella made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. U21 Uruguay's Afonso Sisquella played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armas Lander in the 28th minute of play. The corner ended in Ondino Pejuan almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Uruguay's Afonso Sisquella did a great save. Afonso Sisquella made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victoriano Abril in the 38th minute of play. U21 Uruguay were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after U21 Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Errando Baroja took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Xuaco Udias heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 44th minute Victoriano Abril shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Afonso Sisquella saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bixintxo Olmos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Errando Baroja in the 45th minute of play. 47 minutes into the game, Javier Pinola was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Uruguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Venezuela the free kick. Javier Pinola hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Richie Olavarria made a kick off. A collision led to U21 Venezuela getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Ondino Pejuan hit a great ball. Errando Baroja took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 53rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Bixintxo Olmos. U21 Venezuela's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Afonso Sisquella made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Armas Lander sent off a good shot on target. Armas Lander charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Armas Lander the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Armas Lander kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 58th match minute, U21 Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Armas Lander to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of U21 Venezuela booed when U21 Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xuaco Udias didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 62 minutes, Errando Baroja managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Uruguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Errando Baroja was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 66th minute of the match U21 Venezuela got a corner. U21 Uruguay's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ondino Pejuan ran over to the corner to take the kick. Blasi Liaño made a great header on U21 Venezuela's corner, it was just that U21 Uruguay's Afonso Sisquella managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 68thth minute of the game Victoriano Abril who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Uruguay's Afonso Sisquella was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Afonso Sisquella made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blasi Liaño in the 69th minute of play. After a rather tough play, U21 Uruguay's Alexis Rolin got a free kick in the 70th minute. U21 Venezuela's Ferrando Potes was substituted for Pablo Hernández. U21 Uruguay made a substitution. Formerio Galaz replaced Richie Olavarria. The supporters of U21 Venezuela booed when U21 Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexis Rolin didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 82 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Bertran Cuba sped through U21 Uruguay's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Afonso Sisquella. Afonso Sisquella took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bertran Cuba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, U21 Uruguay's Afonso Sisquella got control of the ball when Victoriano Abril tried to sneak it across the goal line. Joaquin Urbiso struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Afonso Sisquella didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Venezuela. U21 Uruguay's defense didn't have a chance, in the 94th minute, when Blasi Liaño scored to the left of an out of position Afonso Sisquella, making the score, 1-4. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. U21 Venezuela had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
