Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Per-Arne Tinglöv made the kick off and thus started the match. Jean-Philippe Cuny showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriel Karlberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Thibaut Gallego fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gösta Bergfelt having to interfere. Gabriel Karlberg took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jean-Philippe Cuny. Jean-Philippe Cuny dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. If Per-Arne Tinglöv had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. John Olofsson was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 43 minutes into the match. 43 minutes into the game, one of U21 Sweden:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Gösta Bergfelt had in the 45thth minute some difficulties stopping Mathias Pionnier's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his right side, but he still managed to hold the ball In the 45th minute, Mathias Pionnier ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gösta Bergfelt was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Charly Lemoine stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute Mathias Pionnier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gösta Bergfelt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Samuel Stenger hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Per-Arne Tinglöv got free with Jean-Philippe Cuny in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gösta Bergfelt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuel Stenger in the 58th minute of play. Gabriel Karlberg scored 1-3 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jean-Philippe Cuny, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. U21 Sweden made a substitution. Magne Isaksson replaced Frans Berglund. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charly Lemoine in the 67th minute of play forced U21 Sweden's goalkeeper Gösta Bergfelt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gösta Bergfelt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charly Lemoine, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. The audience was convinced that Samuel Stenger's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gösta Bergfelt was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. The supporters of U21 France booed when U21 Sweden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per-Arne Tinglöv didn't get a good kick on the ball. U21 France's Jules Demestre was substituted for Rémy Delecluse. Jean-Philippe Cuny showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Holger Nordin, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched U21 Sweden eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
