Resita fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Garrett Gladu should have stopped the shot. In the 75th minute, Chong Lamontagne ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Anton Lamothe was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-8. CS Impact de Montreal's Anton Lamothe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juliusz Szostak in the 78th minute of play. Hershel Cavazos's late challenge caught a C.S.M. Resita's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. With a little luck, CS Impact de Montreal's Anton Lamothe got control of the ball when Chong Lamontagne tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 89th minute, Mariano Lott got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
