An unexpectedly hard shot by Parfen Babarykin in the 16th minute of play forced Luxembourg's goalkeeper Karlheinz Ludecke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Wladimir Wasilewski kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Polikarp Miheev. That made the score 1-0 in the 18 minute of play. When Wladimir Wasilewski came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Luxembourg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wladimir Wasilewski couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wladimir Wasilewski in the 28th minute of play forced Russia's goalkeeper Polikarp Miheev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luxembourg's Karlheinz Ludecke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Parfen Babarykin in the 29th minute of play. Luxembourg's Wladimir Wasilewski got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luxembourg's Karlheinz Ludecke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evgeniy Kobeko in the 33rd minute of play. Yannick Bartz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Polikarp Miheev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Parfen Babarykin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Karlheinz Ludecke having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Luxembourg's Julien Kupferblum got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Karlheinz Ludecke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Parfen Babarykin in the 44th minute of play.

The wind increased when Wladimir Wasilewski made the kick off in the second half. Wladimir Wasilewski struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Yaroslav Gladyshev could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Karlheinz Ludecke made a huge save. Karlheinz Ludecke was a little too slow when Yaroslav Gladyshev got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 4-2. Luxembourg were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Russia for a fine match.
