The audience was convinced that Amauri Lopes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Délio das Neves was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. Boot FC's Délio das Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Augusto de Godoi in the 45th minute of play.

The wind increased when Amauri Lopes made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute SÃO PAULO F.C were awarded a corner. Claudinho Massa went to the cornerflag to take it. When Amauri Lopes came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the SÃO PAULO F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amauri Lopes couldn't finish the play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. SÃO PAULO F.C had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
