Roman Olivarez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Byron Pollard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulin Bebian got free with Stan Prince in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. U21 England's Stan Prince proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save U21 England from getting a goal against them. 19 minutes into the match, U21 Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Todd Connery came free, but Roman Olivarez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 20th minute, Derlis González hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. U21 England's Stan Prince played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aristides Felipez in the 23rd minute of play. The corner ended in Florentino Gonzalez almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 England's Stan Prince did a great save. Roman Olivarez came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 England's Darren Kirkpatrick. But to his dismay, Darren Kirkpatrick quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When U21 England's Todd Connery in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Paraguay's goalie prevented a goal. Derlis González could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Stan Prince made a huge save. Darren Kirkpatrick hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. In the 39th match minute, U21 England was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jon Partridge to maneuver through the defense. 41 minutes into the match, U21 England's goal looked a bit too open when Paulin Bebian came free, but Stan Prince reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half U21 England were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

U21 Paraguay made a substitution. Iratzeder Dopazo replaced Diogo Lopes. The wind increased when Oskitz Cadenas made the kick off in the second half. Oskitz Cadenas hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. U21 England's Jon Partridge shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 54th minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. U21 England had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
