In the 5th match minute, U21 Romania was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Liviu Maghiran to maneuver through the defense. In the 6th minute, Inakhos Petropoulos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 8 minutes into the game, Ionuț Jităreanu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Aglauros Kavallieratos. Ionuț Jităreanu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After 34 minutes U21 Cyprus's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ştefan Mârzac who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Ştefan Mârzac almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Cyprus's Aglauros Kavallieratos did a great save. Gheorghe Furdui showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Makhaon Patrianakos in the 37th minute of the match. In the 41st match minute, U21 Cyprus was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Makhaon Patrianakos to maneuver through the defense. U21 Cyprus were furious when Kroios Gomatos was red carded, 43 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 43 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for U21 Cyprus! Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

U21 Cyprus's Haakon Gaafar was substituted for Makhaon Patrianakos. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cornel Drâmba made a kick off. Aglauros Kavallieratos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ionuț Jităreanu went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. In the 60th minute, Makis Antoniadis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When U21 Romania's Ionuț Jităreanu in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. U21 Romania's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Inakhos Petropoulos ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Inakhos Petropoulos got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gheorghe Furdui quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Aglauros Kavallieratos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Isaia in the 71st minute of play. 75 minutes into the match, U21 Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Kalkhas Souflas came free, but Gheorghe Furdui reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aglauros Kavallieratos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ionuț Jităreanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ionuț Jităreanu in the 79th minute of play forced U21 Cyprus's goalkeeper Aglauros Kavallieratos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aglauros Kavallieratos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ionuț Jităreanu in the 80th minute of play. Aglauros Kavallieratos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Romania. After having played for 87 minutes, Inakhos Petropoulos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Cyprus's supporters crossed their fingers, but Inakhos Petropoulos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 91 minutes into the match, Alex Isaia notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of U21 Cyprus's Aglauros Kavallieratos. Aglauros Kavallieratos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When U21 Romania's Alex Isaia in the 94th minute got a chance for a shot 94th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Cyprus's goalie prevented a goal. U21 Romania's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
