Pēteris Schmeichel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baldomiro Clementi in the 3rd minute of the match. 9 minutes into the match, Bierunese's goalkeeper Werner Kamps had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leukothoe Atsidakos. Leukothoe Atsidakos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Werner Kamps read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. When Lykaon Vlahos fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Cyprus's protests and gave Lykaon Vlahos a yellow card for diving instead. Bierunese's Anton Sturkenboom was substituted for Kevin Arnolds. A collision led to U21 Cyprus getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Lykaon Vlahos hit a great ball. Pēteris Schmeichel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Franklin Trigo, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Bram Sandstra's late challenge caught a U21 Cyprus's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bram Sandstra helped the player get up and apologised. In the 15th minute, Bram Sandstra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 15 played minutes, U21 Cyprus's Simeon Akrivopoulos shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Werner Kamps came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in U21 Cyprus reached it. Werner Kamps made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leukothoe Atsidakos in the 17th minute. After 22 minutes, Iphikles Spyridis made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Bierunese's Werner Kamps tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The U21 Cyprus fans' excitement grew in the 26th match minute when U21 Cyprus's Leukothoe Atsidakos looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, U21 Cyprus's Iphikles Spyridis got a free kick in the 29th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leukothoe Atsidakos in the 33rd minute of play forced Bierunese's goalkeeper Werner Kamps to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Bierunese booed when U21 Cyprus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alkestis Tsardikos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 42 minutes, Franklin Trigo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bierunese's supporters crossed their fingers, but Franklin Trigo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 46th minute, U21 Cyprus's Leukothoe Atsidakos dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Werner Kamps showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leukothoe Atsidakos, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. 62 minutes into the match, Leukothoe Atsidakos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Werner Kamps. Bierunese's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leukothoe Atsidakos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Iphikles Spyridis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leukothoe Atsidakos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Werner Kamps read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leukothoe Atsidakos in the 80th minute of play forced Bierunese's goalkeeper Werner Kamps to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Leukothoe Atsidakos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Werner Kamps took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leukothoe Atsidakos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 83rd minute, Hector Garofalis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Bierunese's Folker Lindenbergh got a free kick in the 89th minute. 92 minutes into the game, U21 Cyprus's Leukothoe Atsidakos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Werner Kamps made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. For all the effort they put into the match, the Bierunese players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for U21 Cyprus.
