Pēteris Schmeichel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfonso Signorini in the 26th minute of play. Pēteris Schmeichel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Apolo Edur's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Miguel Ángel Santoro made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Leukothoe Atsidakos sent off a good shot on target. 39 minutes into the match, U21 Cyprus's goal looked a bit too open when Arild Nodland came free, but Pēteris Schmeichel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leukothoe Atsidakos got free with Miguel Ángel Santoro in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leukothoe Atsidakos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
