After 4 played minutes, U21 Italy's Alvaro Villani shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Candido Endira came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in U21 Italy reached it. Evaristo Ralondo came free with the goalkeeper in the 9th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Domenico Profeta could save by the left post. Risto Perišić fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Domenico Profeta having to interfere. 20 minutes into the game, one of U21 Mexico:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 21st minute there was a penalty for U21 Italy. Ciro Uguccioni stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Candido Endira. 0-1. Candido Endira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alvaro Villani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Candido Endira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvaro Villani, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. A hard shot 37 in the game by Evaristo Ralondo from a close distance when the talented Domenico Profeta managed to make a qualified save. U21 Italy's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, U21 Mexico's Risto Perišić got a free kick in the 37th minute. The supporters of U21 Italy booed when U21 Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evaristo Ralondo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 0-2 became the score in the 45th minute when Ciro Uguccioni elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ciro Meendez made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, U21 Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Ciro Uguccioni came free, but Candido Endira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of U21 Mexico booed when U21 Italy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaétan Scirea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Domenico Profeta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ciro Meendez in the 57th minute of play. U21 Italy made a substitution. Biagio Marcantonio replaced Anselmo Falcioni. After 63 minutes of play, U21 Italy's Ciro Uguccioni made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Candido Endira was left in no man's land by his defense there! A sloppy throw-in by Gaétan Scirea in the 66th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by U21 Mexico's Raul Gabino. 66 minutes into the match, U21 Italy's goal looked a bit too open when Ciro Meendez came free, but Domenico Profeta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 69th minute of the match, Ciro Uguccioni tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Candido Endira saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. U21 Italy's Aurelio Alessandrini was substituted for Ciro Uguccioni. After 71 played minutes U21 Italy got a freekick which was hit by Ferdinando Terrasi. In the 79th minute Ferdinando Terrasi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Candido Endira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, Ferdinando Terrasi notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of U21 Mexico's Candido Endira. Candido Endira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When U21 Mexico's Atilano Argenis in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Candido Endira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. U21 Mexico's defense didn't have a chance, in the 91st minute, when Armin Bardella scored to the left of an out of position Candido Endira, making the score, 0-5. In the 94th minute Atilano Argenis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domenico Profeta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th minute, Biagio Marcantonio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match was over U21 Italy could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than U21 Mexico throughout the match.
