An unexpectedly hard shot by Douglas Fowler in the 23rd minute of play forced U21 Mexico's goalkeeper Lázaro Poncio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lázaro Poncio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Douglas Fowler in the 25th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Harald Berge made a kick off. When Hiram Cisneros came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the U21 Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hiram Cisneros couldn't finish the play. After 61st play minutes Even Klungtveit shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Lázaro Poncio and just under the crossbar into goal. U21 Norway's Kristian Lindhjem was substituted for Ole-Johan Engeset. 72 minutes into the match, U21 Norway's Harald Berge sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lázaro Poncio narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
