Ok, there it is... a small delay
It was lumiere.cinematograph.lyon@powerchallenge.com
Lumiere brothers received the Elliott Cresson Medal, invented the cinematograph which gave us characters like Harry Potter, inspector Clouseau and directors like Francis Ford Coppola.

I received the reboot mail, but deffinetelly the name is lumiere, I'm not sure if the invention is the cinematograph, the movies, filmography, film or cinema.
The city is quite a mistery to me, it should be Lyon, but Paris is another option...
I'm still guessing

I think that name, invent and city aren't relationed. Look the example. I'm not sure, but one of the players is not a famous person, and other is a place. The invention can be one of the Musk inventions. But not the car of the electric car (pay pal, the hyper loop, I don't know...:(

Re: Solve the Christmas mystery!
By huangho - 21-12-2016 20:12
If the cities are not related, there will be a huge problem, because teh combinations are huge, because some names can be directed to surname, others to city and the others to invention.
In my case it could be: lumiere.spacecraft.rio@powerchallenge.com (Related to lumiere: coppola, potter, clouseau and cresson), related to spacecraft(armstrong, haise, musk and zahn??) and rio (Djokovic, Bolt, ???, ???)
It's a good one

Re: Solve the Christmas mystery!

If there are 16 players, 4 are false, it means that 4 are for city, 4 are for invention and 4 for surname.
My guessing is solid about lumiere, I'm not sure about invention (Maybe spacecraft, due to the astronauts and Elon), but city...?
I'm hanged on there.

Hubert McIntyre
Josep Valle

Even though none of the players/characters belong in Sweden it's stated as their nationality for all but four players. Maybe those are the false clues? In that case we could rule out Johann Zahn, Verna Hills, Joseph Valle and Fred Haise.

Re: Solve the Christmas mystery!
By darkline - 21-12-2016 22:16
Well, here's a list of the players and who they're in real life, hope it helps
1 Johann Zahn (writer/inventor of the camera obscura)
2 Vittorio Emanuele (Prince of Naples)
3 Verna Hills (fake?)
4 Louis Armstrong (Musician/Trumpeter)
5 Usain Bolt (Athlete / Runner)
6 Narendra Modi (Prime Minister of India)
7 Donald Davies (Welsh Computer Scientist)
8 Hubert Mclntyre (Fake?)
9 Jacques Clouseau (Movie Character)
10 Elon Reeve (Rich guy / inventor / wants to setup a colony in Mars)
11 Josep Valle (Athlete / Football Player)
12 Novak Djokovic (Athlete / Tennis Player)
13 Elliott Cresson (American philanthropist / An award to inventions has his name)
14 Fred Haise (Astronaut)
15 Harry Potter (Movie Character)
16 Francis Ford Coppola (Director)
So I think for sure the fakes are Verna Hills, Hubert Mclntyre, possibly Josep Valle since it seems like a reference too obscure to be related and maybe Donald Davies also seems unrelated.
In a jist, we have athletes, movie characters, movie directors, some obscure references to inventions related to the film industry (Johann Zahn & Camera Obscura), two things related to Mars (the astronaut and the rich guy) and also, an Indian Prime Minister and the Prince of Naples, this two probably have something to do with location I guess.
Anway, hope it helps, I think it's just a matter of trying different combinations, the example that was given mentioned three totally unrelated things like messi.computer.boston so I believe the riddles are three individual unrelated words.Edited: 21-12-2016 22:27

Re: Solve the Christmas mystery!

Clouseau and Potter are fictional characters...another words not real so the 4 irrelevant names would be possibly:
Verna Hills
Hubert McIntyre
Jacque Clouseau
Harry Potter

I think the surname is random among the list of 12 but the invention and city might relate to the group of 12...like:
invention in sports, cinema, camera, hand held devises (cell phone, ipads,??)
and
city Cannes, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Rome, London, etc.

Verna Hills is not a fake name, is a songwriter.
Hubert McIntyre could be also Hugh McInTyre (and here we find a footballer and a cricketer, both from glasgow)

Verna Hills IMO is too obscure a reference to be meaningful... there's not even a wikipedia entry on verna hills.
Hubert is a different name than Hugh, McIntyre is a somewhat common last name.
