Hubert is a different name than Hugh, McIntyre is a somewhat common last name.
But you surely sang her song, The Wheels on the bus.
Maybe the McIntyre is related to the Scottish clan, and not just 1 member.
Also Hugh (and Bert) are acceptable nicknames for Hubert

12 players give clues:
- 4 players have different nationalities [Zahn, Hills, Valle, Haise]
- 4 players are left footed [Emanuele, Hills, Modi, Davies]
- 4 players are substituted at once??? [Bolt, Cresson, McIntyre, Coppola]
Josep Valle is a sportsman who was know for his 'thunderbolt' of a shot. Usain Bolt is a sportsman with the nickname Usain 'Thunder' Bolt. Vittorio Emanuele is a galleria where the 'Thunder' Milano Boxe team has events. If you search Google for the combination of thunder and sports, you find the basketball team of Oklahoma City. Is this the location?
Also, Henry Ford received the Elliot Cresson Medal. Francis Ford Coppola was born in the Henry Ford hospital. And Narenda Modi is involved with the Ford foundation, which was founded by Henry Ford. Is Ford the surname?
Not really a clue about the invention part. Donald Davies invented packet switching in 1965. Johann Zahn invented the first camera. Fred Haise was on of the first to walk on the moon. (First moonwalk was in 1965). Maybe the invention relates to the year 1965?

So according to Crew the name, invention, and city are not connected thus could it be:
Eliot Cresson...camera...Oklahoma City.
They are not connected.Edited: 22-12-2016 03:52

You have done well so far so I'm going to reward you with a couple of hints :)
1. The correct person has already been mention in the thread.
2. Verna Hills is a real person (as opposed to popular belief in the thread) and a pretty strong clue too
3. A clue for the city is Jacques Clouseau
4. Johann Zahn is one of the false clues
5. You have been correct in assuming that there are four clues for each correct answer (four for the person, four for the invention, four for the city and four false clues)Edited: 22-12-2016 09:23

Re: Solve the Christmas mystery!

I suggest that the invention can be Wheel or Car.
Verna Hills wings The wheels on the bus, which includes both wheels and a vehicle.
Elon Reeve Musk is the owner of Tesla, which makes cars powered by electricity.
McIntyre could also be a direct clue to this, since his name involves the word "Tyre".
As of yet I haven't found a forth clue that supports this, but maybe someone else might have seen something I've missed?

Also, I believe that the city is a one word city only, else it would mess with the email due to the uncertainty if you should write the city's name as one word or add dashes to connect the words.
If the city is connected to Jacques Clouseau. I suggest the following citys as possible, either due to the pink panther being recorded in the city, or that the character in the story is in the city.
Paris, Rome, Boston, Bedford, Chelsea, Westwood, and Winchester, Massachusetts.
I'm not sure that this list is complete, but if we find other evidence that can support one of these city names, it will be a step in the right direction.

One of the films for The Pink Panther ocurrs in Rome...

The problem here is that you guys are trying to fit the clues to whatever you think it's the answer, for example, lets say is Paris..
Vittorio Emanuele Orlando was an Italian statesman, known for representing Italy in the 1919 Paris Peace Conference
Novak Djokovic won 4 times the Paris ATP Tournament, also from the 2010 Davis Cup finals to the 2011 French Open, Djokovic had a 43-match win streak that finished in Paris.
Francis Ford Coppola directed The Last Tango in Paris, there has been some recent news of scandals during this movie too.
Inspector Clouseau connection to Paris is obvious.
To be honest, I think the clues to resolve this are insufficient, specially without knowing what player is connected to what part of the enigma and without knowing how obvious or obscure are the clues.

OK, maybe rome isn´t the right city, cause the hint is just Jacques Clouseau?
but the invention could be the wheel or wheels cause:
The Wheels on the Bus - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheels_on_the_Bus
"The Wheels on the Bus" is an American folk song dating no later than 1939 written by Verna Hills. It is a popular children's song in the United Kingdom, the ...
(Verna Hills is a secure hint for the City!)
so:
1 / name/person: tesla or lumierer
2 / invention: wheel or wheels
3 / city: A clue for the city is Jacques Clouseau/ could also be paris? .. (rome?)
I tested/confirmed the following mail addresses as wrong:
