But to his dismay, Barry Grady quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Godfredo Gagriel made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Ricardo Hull sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saul Pietro in the 25th minute of play forced U21 United States's goalkeeper Kermit Dunn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Galeno kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Ricardo Hull's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Godfredo Gagriel was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Godfredo Gagriel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wiley Hopson in the 32nd minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Saul Pietro was the one to do the kick off. Kermit Dunn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sixto Ceandro, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Sixto Ceandro kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Saul Pietro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sixto Ceandro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Kermit Dunn made a huge save. A collision led to U21 United States getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Bryon Tovar hit a great ball. In the 69th match minute, U21 United States was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bryon Tovar to maneuver through the defense. 72 minutes into the match, U21 Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Wiley Hopson came free, but Godfredo Gagriel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Godfredo Gagriel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wiley Hopson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 77 minutes into the match, U21 United States's goal looked a bit too open when Cleto Furtado came free, but Kermit Dunn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 78 minutes into the game, Neal Bernier was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 United States's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Mexico the free kick. A collision led to U21 United States getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Neal Bernier hit a great ball. U21 Mexico's Denis Glushakov was substituted for Saul Pietro. After 80 played minutes U21 United States got a freekick which was hit by Neal Bernier. Kermit Dunn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Denis Glushakov in the 84th minute. Denis Glushakovs short, quick shot in the 86thth minute got Kermit Dunn to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Kermit Dunn made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Denis Glushakov sent off a good shot on target. In the 92nd minute, Wiley Hopson made a precise shot to the right of Godfredo Gagriel. U21 Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Bryon Tovar kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. After 95 played minutes Denis Glushakov rounded U21 United States's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The U21 United States fans cheered their team off the field, for while U21 Mexico had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
