Matei Hirean showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rene Frances in the 12th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the match, U21 Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Rene Frances came free, but Matei Hirean reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the last second Matei Hirean throw himself and got hold of the ball when Rene Frances in the 16thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. In the 17th minute U21 Mexico were awarded a corner. Saverio Gaxan went to the cornerflag to take it. Mihail Pipirig might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gervasio Bilintx. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mihail Pipirig ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 93rd match minute, U21 Romania was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basarab Coșeriu to maneuver through the defense. In the 94th match minute, U21 Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benito Juárez to maneuver through the defense. U21 Romania's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
