In the 5th minute, Dennis-Sven Söderström ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gervasio Bilintx was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 10th minute Dmitry Kayumov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elói Romero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Mexico's Godofredo Sansone was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Elói Romero in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Elói Romero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hiram Ortiz in the 13th minute of the match. Samuel Miranda might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gervasio Bilintx. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Samuel Miranda ran back to his position shaking his head. After 17 minutes of play, U21 Brazil's Dennis-Sven Söderström made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gervasio Bilintx was left in no man's land by his defense there! 20 minutes into the match, U21 Brazil's goal looked a bit too open when Generoso Jayvier came free, but Elói Romero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gervasio Bilintx took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samuel Miranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gervasio Bilintx stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dennis-Sven Söderström's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. In the 24th minute Denílson Mazza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gervasio Bilintx saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Mexico's Gervasio Bilintx played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dennis-Sven Söderström in the 25th minute of play. 25 minutes into the game, U21 Brazil's Dennis-Sven Söderström nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gervasio Bilintx made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Gervasio Bilintx made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denílson Mazza in the 29th minute of play. When Hiram Ortiz came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the U21 Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hiram Ortiz couldn't finish the play. Gervasio Bilintx made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dennis-Sven Söderström in the 34th minute of play. 36 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Mexico's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dennis-Sven Söderström was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Brazil's players had a chance to rest. Dennis-Sven Söderström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gervasio Bilintx having to interfere. A collision led to U21 Brazil getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Samuel Miranda hit a great ball. Gervasio Bilintx stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dennis-Sven Söderström's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. Denílson Mazza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The U21 Mexico players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. U21 Brazil were winning 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hiram Ortiz to make the kick off. 50 minutes into the match, U21 Mexico's goalkeeper Gervasio Bilintx had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dennis-Sven Söderström. 51 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Mexico's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dennis-Sven Söderström was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Brazil's players had a chance to rest. In the 53rd match minute, U21 Brazil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dennis-Sven Söderström to maneuver through the defense. When Dmitry Kayumov fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Mexico's protests and gave Dmitry Kayumov a yellow card for diving instead. After 54 played minutes U21 Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Dmitry Kayumov. U21 Mexico's Cecilio Oliverio was substituted for Sixto Nalo. U21 Mexico made a substitution. Mariano Pavon replaced Generoso Jayvier. After 58 minutes U21 Mexico's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Dennis-Sven Söderström who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on U21 Brazil's corner Dennis-Sven Söderström fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Gervasio Bilintx quite easily take care of the ball. U21 Mexico's Gervasio Bilintx proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Mexico from getting a goal against them. U21 Brazil's Dennis-Sven Söderström was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 63rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. U21 Brazil made a substitution. Luiz Eduardo Abraão replaced Basílio Gomes. Denílson Mazza got in the 70th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Gervasio Bilintx handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. When the match clock showed 70 minutes, the score became 1-5 when Denílson Mazza sped through U21 Mexico's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gervasio Bilintx. U21 Mexico made a substitution. Fernando Irrintzi replaced Hermengildo Lorenz. In the 74th minute, Dmitry Kayumov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hiram Ortiz in the 77th minute of play forced U21 Brazil's goalkeeper Elói Romero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dennis-Sven Söderström spun around in front of the goal 79 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of U21 Mexico's goal. In the 81st minute Hiram Ortiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elói Romero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elói Romero came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Mexico's Mariano Pavon. But to his dismay, Mariano Pavon quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-5. Gervasio Bilintx made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dennis-Sven Söderström in the 91st minute. U21 Brazil's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
