Bonifacio Odilon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Rodrigo Valle made a huge save. When Bonifacio Odilon, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 16 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Rodrigo Valle was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 20th minute Allan de Godoy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Atilano Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Atilano Barros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Allan de Godoy in the 22nd minute of the match. 22 minutes into the match, U21 Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Allan de Godoy came free, but Atilano Barros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Landon Donovan in the 42nd minute of play forced U21 Brazil's goalkeeper Rodrigo Valle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Bonifacio Odilon fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Mexico's protests and gave Bonifacio Odilon a yellow card for diving instead. Atilano Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Allan de Godoy in the 57th minute of play. Igor Cavaleiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Atilano Barros having to interfere. U21 Mexico's Fidel Beltxe was substituted for Landon Donovan. In the 60th match minute, U21 Brazil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Délio Madureira to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to U21 Brazil getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Délio Madureira hit a great ball. In the 66th minute, Allan de Godoy left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Brazil fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. U21 Brazil's Adolfo Pereira was substituted for Valério Pimenta. U21 Mexico's John-Paul Motowski was substituted for Bonifacio Odilon. U21 Mexico's Santo Mambru was substituted for Alex Aguinaga. U21 Brazil's Narciso da Fonseca got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. U21 Brazil's Adalmo Paraense was substituted for Allan de Godoy. An unexpectedly hard shot by Igor Cavaleiro in the 76th minute of play forced U21 Mexico's goalkeeper Atilano Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Atilano Barros made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Donatello Ramos sent off a good shot on target. Rodrigo Valle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John-Paul Motowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ismael Leite, 86 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Atilano Barros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adalmo Paraense, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Adalmo Paraense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The U21 Mexico fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. U21 Brazil were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
