Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ari Priyatno started the match with the kick off. Allan King hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. In the 3rd minute, Allan King fired away a free kick at the goal, but hit it at the wrong angle and it went over the crossbar. In the 5th minute, Ebrahim Kubheka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 8 minutes into the match, Lindo Sewele had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gendo Hans. U21 Malaysia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lindo Sewele was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 12th minute, Allan King got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to U21 South Africa getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Akil Fredericks hit a great ball. Lebang Sibeko might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gendo Hans. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lebang Sibeko ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Lindo Sewele's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gendo Hans was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Gendo Hans stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lindo Sewele's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. U21 Malaysia's Gendo Hans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lebang Sibeko in the 31st minute of play. After a rather tough play, U21 South Africa's Sipho Etafia got a free kick in the 37th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ari Priyatno in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rafael Thebe saved U21 South Africa from getting behind. With a little luck, U21 South Africa's Rafael Thebe got control of the ball when Ari Priyatno tried to sneak it across the goal line. Akil Fredericks took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gendo Hans. Gendo Hans dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
After a rather tough play, U21 Malaysia's Uum Ramadhonna got a free kick in the 50th minute. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Malaysia's zone, Lindo Sewele stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gendo Hans came out of the goal and Lindo Sewele tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 59th minute, C.J. Boka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 65th minute Ari Priyatno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Thebe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 67 minutes U21 South Africa's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Zulfikar Priyatno who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Zulfikar Priyatno got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rafael Thebe quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. U21 Malaysia's Haikal Dewa got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 76th match minute, U21 Malaysia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Uum Ramadhonna to maneuver through the defense. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Malaysia's goalkeeper Gendo Hans, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gendo Hans showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lebang Sibeko in the 78th minute of the match. In the 78th minute, Akil Fredericks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 81 minutes into the game, Lebang Sibeko recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gendo Hans. Lebang Sibeko showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-3. 87 minutes into the match, U21 South Africa's goal looked a bit too open when Ari Priyatno came free, but Rafael Thebe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Nicolas Klaasens fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 South Africa's protests and gave Nicolas Klaasens a yellow card for diving instead. In the 88th match minute, U21 South Africa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolas Klaasens to maneuver through the defense. Lindo Sewele received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Gendo Hans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. U21 Malaysia's Gendo Hans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lebang Sibeko in the 94th minute of play. The U21 South Africa players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
