U21 Mexico's Richard Murillo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gil Fernandez in the 4th minute of play. 6 minutes into the match, U21 Brazil's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Mederi came free, but Vicente Xavier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reasco Das in the 11th minute of play forced U21 Brazil's goalkeeper Vicente Xavier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, U21 Brazil's Luís Senna got a free kick in the 14th minute. In the 15th minute, Raúl Nava made a precise shot to the right of Vicente Xavier. U21 Brazil's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1.
