With a little luck, U21 Scotland's Matthew Hunter got control of the ball when Aristide Heidingsfelder tried to sneak it across the goal line. Matthew Hunter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lutz Dziub, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Józef Pilsudski struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Carl Rauch didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Scotland. Matthew Hunter was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Lutz Dziub showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 14 minute of play. After a rather tough play, U21 Scotland's David McLergain got a free kick in the 17th minute. The supporters of U21 Germany booed when U21 Scotland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregor Eadie didn't get a good kick on the ball. U21 Germany's Carl Rauch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gregor Eadie in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lutz Dziub in the 38th minute of play forced U21 Scotland's goalkeeper Matthew Hunter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Shaun Acton charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Shaun Acton the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. U21 Germany's Kunga Kungs shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 42nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Matthew Hunter but with some difficulty. In the 47th match minute, U21 Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Balko Hollekamp to maneuver through the defense. U21 Scotland made a substitution. Dylan McCartair replaced Les McBeolain. Balko Hollekamp kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. Carl Rauch took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Józef Pilsudski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lutz Dziub was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, Eric Thomson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Shaun Acton hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Matthew Hunter came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Germany's Lutz Dziub. But to his dismay, Lutz Dziub quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Carl Rauch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dylan McCartair in the 64th minute of the match. Józef Pilsudski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Carl Rauch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. U21 Germany made a substitution. Hagen Spinrath replaced Kunga Kungs. U21 Germany's Ken Kurz was substituted for Lutz Dziub. Matthew Hunter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Friedrich Rammer in the 72nd minute of play. Matthew Hunter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ken Kurz in the 74th minute of play. Sid McIlleriach kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. In the 80th minute, U21 Scotland's Eric Thomson seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Eric Thomson the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of U21 Scotland protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Eric Thomson had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Eric Thomson hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. In the 81st minute of the match Friedrich Rammer sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Matthew Hunter skillfully saved the ball. Aristide Heidingsfelder recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match clock showed 84 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Ken Kurz sped through U21 Scotland's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Matthew Hunter. In the 87th minute, Jimmy-Floyd MacDonald sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and U21 Germany's Carl Rauch didn't even have to move. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ken Kurz in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Matthew Hunter saved U21 Scotland from getting behind. U21 Germany's Carl Rauch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Józef Pilsudski in the 92nd minute of play. In the 95th minute, Kaisar Beckenbauer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carl Rauch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jimmy-Floyd MacDonald, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Carl Rauch didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jimmy-Floyd MacDonald went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. For all the effort they put into the match, the U21 Scotland players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for U21 Germany.
