Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aristide Cosoreanu in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gualberto Velichko prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, U21 Romania's Cristian Vladimirescu got control of the ball when Manoel Fraile tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Uruguay's zone, Aristide Cosoreanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gualberto Velichko came out of the goal and Aristide Cosoreanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Aristide Cosoreanu came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the U21 Romania fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aristide Cosoreanu couldn't finish the play. After 22 minutes of play, U21 Romania's Aristide Cosoreanu made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gualberto Velichko was left in no man's land by his defense there! Manoel Fraile struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Cristian Vladimirescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Uruguay. Gualberto Velichko stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aristide Cosoreanu's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Gualberto Velichko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aristide Cosoreanu in the 31st minute of play. U21 Romania's Cristian Vladimirescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gumaro Leturia in the 33rd minute of play. In the 35th minute Gumaro Leturia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristian Vladimirescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Vladimirescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gumaro Leturia in the 36th minute of play. Aristide Cosoreanu scored 0-3 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gualberto Velichko, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vasile Ştirbu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Gualberto Velichko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Isac Trifu during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gumaro Leturia to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Aristide Cosoreanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gualberto Velichko was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. 61 minutes into the game, Vasile Ştirbu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Romania's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Uruguay the free kick. Vasile Ştirbu hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Cristian Vladimirescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Bueno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gumaro Leturia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. U21 Uruguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Bueno was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 93rdth minute of the game Călin Nedelciu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Uruguay's Gualberto Velichko was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 97 minutes into the match, U21 Uruguay's goalkeeper Gualberto Velichko had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Grigore Bădilescu. The audience thought a goal was coming when Grigore Bădilescu got free with Gualberto Velichko in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 98th minute, Dacian Tilea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. U21 Romania had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
