Baldomiro Gamarra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Phan Bien made a huge save. 16 minutes into the game, Chile's Baldomiro Gamarra nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Phan Bien made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Baldomiro Gamarra blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Phan Bien having to make a save. Phan Bien made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baldomiro Gamarra in the 19th minute of play. Phan Bien came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Chile's Baldomiro Gamarra. But to his dismay, Baldomiro Gamarra quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Baldomiro Gamarra struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Phan Bien didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chile. Gianluigi Donnarumma made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcos Salas in the 28th minute of play. Phan Bien took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baldomiro Gamarra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Baldomiro Gamarra was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the Vietnam defense, Don Luis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Phan Bien. The Vietnam fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Phan Bien should have stopped the shot. In the 57thth minute of the game Don Luis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vietnam's Phan Bien was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Chile made a substitution. Diego Armando Druganski replaced Baldomiro Gamarra. After 60 minutes Vietnam's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Húmi Rumie who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Húmi Rumie got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Phan Bien quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 66th minute, Diego Armando Druganski made a precise shot to the right of Phan Bien. Vietnam's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-0. Diego Armando Druganski might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Phan Bien. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Diego Armando Druganski ran back to his position shaking his head. Vietnam's Phan Bien played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Armando Druganski in the 70th minute of play. When Chile's Diego Armando Druganski in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Vietnam's goalie prevented a goal. Húmi Rumie kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Vietnam's Hoàng Minh couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 80th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Chile. After 83rd play minutes Diego Armando Druganski shot 8-0, a short shot which went by Phan Bien and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 87thth minute of the game Diego Armando Druganski who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vietnam's Phan Bien was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Húmi Rumie kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Vietnam's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
