Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) U21 Estonia's Liberto Kiirdal started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. U21 Estonia's Volli Äkke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francesco Arapa in the 7th minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 11 minutes into the game, when Eldur Okspuu put in a rough tackle. The referee gave U21 Malta a penalty, 13 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ashley Pantalleresco, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of U21 Estonia's Volli Äkke. 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kunnar Kelm got free with Tonio Buttigieg in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mart Poomee received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Tonio Buttigieg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 25 played minutes U21 Estonia got a freekick which was hit by Sergo Vanaots. An unexpectedly hard shot by Villem Ütt in the 28th minute of play forced U21 Malta's goalkeeper Tonio Buttigieg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, U21 Malta's Yan Vascotto got a free kick in the 29th minute. In the 30th minute, U21 Estonia's Villem Ütt ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tonio Buttigieg. Tonio Buttigieg yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Villem Ütt got free with Tonio Buttigieg in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Malta's zone, Kunnar Kelm stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tonio Buttigieg came out of the goal and Kunnar Kelm tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 39 minutes into the match, U21 Malta's goal looked a bit too open when Villem Ütt came free, but Tonio Buttigieg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of U21 Estonia booed when U21 Malta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mikiel Tonna didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
Ashley Pantalleresco in the 51stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Volli Äkke, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 54 minutes into the game, Yan Vascotto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Malta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Estonia the free kick. A collision led to U21 Malta getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Yan Vascotto hit a great ball. After 55 played minutes, U21 Estonia's Avo Aare shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tonio Buttigieg came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in U21 Estonia reached it. When Kunnar Kelm came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the U21 Estonia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kunnar Kelm couldn't finish the play. 66 minutes into the game, U21 Malta's Francesco Arapa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Volli Äkke made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. A collision led to U21 Malta getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Dyson Trevisan hit a great ball. Kunnar Kelm scored 4-2 in the 70th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tonio Buttigieg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. U21 Malta's Fiobian Salamone was substituted for Francesco Arapa. 75 minutes into the match, U21 Estonia's goalkeeper Volli Äkke had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adrian Gafà. Agu Oinak hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. After 82 minutes U21 Malta's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Avo Aare who took care of the corner kick. A very nice done corner allowed Agu Oinak to score against Tonio Buttigieg in U21 Malta's goal. 5-2 after 82 minutes. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Malta's zone, Kunnar Kelm stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tonio Buttigieg came out of the goal and Kunnar Kelm tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 90 minutes U21 Malta's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Avo Aare who took care of the corner kick. U21 Estonia's Avo Aare was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tonio Buttigieg in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Adrian Gafà sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
