A sloppy throw-in by Anthony McEachern in the 5th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by U21 Switzerland's Joel Moser. In the 6th minute, Xander Unger made a precise shot to the right of Irvin Dunnachie. U21 Scotland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Uwe Baecker in the 10th minute of play forced U21 Scotland's goalkeeper Irvin Dunnachie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joel Moser hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Nathan McNeilly managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Scotland's supporters rose to their feet, but Nathan McNeilly was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rambo Rambo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Irvin Dunnachie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xander Unger in the 26th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xander Unger in the 30th minute of play forced U21 Scotland's goalkeeper Irvin Dunnachie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of U21 Scotland booed when U21 Switzerland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Uwe Baecker didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to U21 Scotland getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Innes McIlwhom hit a great ball. After having played for 37 minutes, Innes McIlwhom managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Scotland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Innes McIlwhom was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. U21 Switzerland's Rambo Rambo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Switzerland from getting a goal against them. If Arthur Coimbra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nathan McNeilly to make the kick off. The supporters of U21 Scotland booed when U21 Switzerland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dagobert Robert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rambo Rambo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Innes McIlwhom, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rambo Rambo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aaron Doran, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 59th minute U21 Scotland were awarded a corner. Wayne McCaskill went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Wayne McCaskill got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rambo Rambo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Xander Unger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nathan McNeilly in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rambo Rambo saved U21 Switzerland from getting behind. Rambo Rambo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nathan McNeilly in the 70th minute of play. U21 Scotland's Graeme Alcock was substituted for Lloyd McUre. U21 Scotland's Eric McAngus was substituted for Anthony McEachern. In the 74th minute U21 Switzerland were awarded a corner. Olaf Haller went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 75th minute, Graeme Alcock hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 76th match minute, U21 Scotland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Theo Connolly to maneuver through the defense. U21 Switzerland's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Olaf Haller in the 80th minute. Arthur Coimbra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute Nathan McNeilly shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rambo Rambo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the U21 Switzerland defense, Alex McCuag kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rambo Rambo. The U21 Switzerland fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rambo Rambo should have stopped the shot. Innes McIlwhom hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
