Waldo Klein was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tiago Madariaga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Theodor Görtz in the 41st minute of play. Bülent Maldini kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. After the first half U21 Spain were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bartolo Nadolski was the one to do the kick off. Bartolo Nadolski scored 1-1 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tiago Madariaga, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Waldo Klein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mario Mandzukic, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. U21 Germany's Bartolo Nadolski got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. U21 Spain made a substitution. When Bartolo Nadolski came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the U21 Germany fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bartolo Nadolski couldn't finish the play. When Ereinotz Bouzas fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Spain's protests and gave Ereinotz Bouzas a yellow card for diving instead. After 86 played minutes U21 Spain got a freekick which was hit by Ereinotz Bouzas. When Bartolo Nadolski came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the U21 Germany fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bartolo Nadolski couldn't finish the play. 90 minutes into the game, Bartolo Nadolski cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Tiago Madariaga was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Through an outstanding action, after 94 minutes, Waldo Klein successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 96 minutes into the game, U21 Germany's Burt Mölber nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tiago Madariaga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Many of U21 Spain's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. U21 Spain may have spent more time on the ball, but U21 Germany were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
