Seating: 2370, VIP seats: 206) Pierre Van Hoojdonk made the kick off and thus started the match. After 3 minutes, Karl Katz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Germany and the U21 Austria players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lasse Scherz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pierre Van Hoojdonk went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. U21 Germany were awarded a corner in the 16th minute after U21 Austria's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Pierre Van Hoojdonk took the corner. U21 Germany's Pierre Van Hoojdonk was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Lasse Scherz in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Daniel Anders thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Lasse Scherz, a very annoying self made goal in the 16th minute which led to 0-2. Lasse Scherz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pierre Van Hoojdonk, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Lasse Scherz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olaf Waidner in the 21st minute of play. With a little luck, U21 Germany's Noah Drews got control of the ball when Wayne Kanelakis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lasse Scherz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pierre Van Hoojdonk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 48 played minutes U21 Germany got a freekick which was hit by Philipp Lahm. 49 minutes into the match, U21 Germany's goalkeeper Noah Drews had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hacı Bulut. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
After having played for 61 minutes, Olaf Waidner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Germany's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olaf Waidner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 63rd minute Dominik Borke suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tino Muring during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to U21 Germany getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Tino Muring hit a great ball. Noah Drews took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waldemar Bansemir, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute, Tobias Vanek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to U21 Austria getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Hacı Bulut hit a great ball. Lasse Scherz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pierre Van Hoojdonk in the 82nd minute of play. Pierre Van Hoojdonk hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. In the 95th minute, U21 Germany's Olaf Waidner ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Lasse Scherz. Lasse Scherz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3.
