Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Krišjānis Cisenieks made the kick off and thus started the match. Krišjānis Cisenieks's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Deris Flamenco firmly grabbed it by the left post. The U21 Latvia fans' excitement grew in the 3rd match minute when U21 Latvia's Roberts Pripāns looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, U21 Guatemala's Oscar Asad got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 16th minute, Krišjānis Cisenieks made a precise shot to the right of Deris Flamenco. U21 Guatemala's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Krišjānis Cisenieks got free with Deris Flamenco in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Deris Flamenco was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 34th minute of the match, Roberts Pripāns tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Deris Flamenco saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Vilmārs Guba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Januario Berrueta, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. After 37 minutes, Indulis Sajuks mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Latvia and the U21 Guatemala players grew even worse after the yellow card. Indulis Sajuks hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Vilmārs Guba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Januario Berrueta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vilmārs Guba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eraldo Jimenez's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Krišjānis Cisenieks struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Deris Flamenco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Latvia. 48 minutes into the game, Oscar Asad was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Guatemala's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Latvia the free kick. The supporters of U21 Latvia booed when U21 Guatemala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oscar Asad didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Efrain Rodriguez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roberts Pripāns in the 57th minute of play forced U21 Guatemala's goalkeeper Deris Flamenco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Krišjānis Cisenieks in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Deris Flamenco saved U21 Guatemala from getting behind. If Krišjānis Cisenieks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 94 minutes into the game, Egmonts Namsons was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Latvia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Guatemala the free kick. A collision led to U21 Latvia getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Egmonts Namsons hit a great ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. U21 Latvia fully deserved thier win.
