The supporters of U21 Latvia booed when U21 Guatemala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oscar Asad didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 94 minutes into the game, Egmonts Namsons was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Latvia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Guatemala the free kick. A collision led to U21 Latvia getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Egmonts Namsons hit a great ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. U21 Latvia fully deserved thier win.
