If Froilan Reyes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 20 minutes into the match, Indonesia's goal looked a bit too open when Froilan Reyes came free, but Mekki Item reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Miro Contratas in the 21st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Indonesia's Haji Gille. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Froilan Reyes in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mekki Item prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mekki Item made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Froilan Reyes in the 25th minute of play. Zulkarnaen Mandaga blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Baltazar Adán having to make a save. Baltazar Adán made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zulkarnaen Mandaga in the 27th minute. 30 minutes into the match, Froilan Reyes notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Indonesia's Mekki Item. Mekki Item was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Mekki Item showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Froilan Reyes in the 40th minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Froilan Reyes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Spain fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. After the first half Spain were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The supporters of Spain booed when Indonesia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haji Gille didn't get a good kick on the ball. Indonesia's Mekki Item played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Froilan Reyes in the 54th minute of play. A collision led to Indonesia getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Haji Gille hit a great ball. In the 56th minute, Spain's Froilan Reyes dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. With a little luck, Indonesia's Mekki Item got control of the ball when Evaristo Ponte tried to sneak it across the goal line. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Indonesia's goalie and right to Edorta Portillo. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Indonesia's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Spain's Xurdin Pareja was substituted for Gilen Zabalo. After some careless play in the Spain defense, Zulkarnaen Mandaga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Baltazar Adán. The Spain fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Baltazar Adán should have stopped the shot. In the 79th minute, Andrea De Toro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Indonesia made a substitution. Anak Selby replaced Zulkarnaen Mandaga. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hanung Sephtianda in the 82nd minute of play forced Spain's goalkeeper Baltazar Adán to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Baltazar Adán showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilbert Fitrianto in the 87th minute of the match. 93 minutes into the game, April Idris cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-4. Baltazar Adán was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Spain players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
