With a little luck, Campania Athletic Club's Cane Di Dio got control of the ball when Tomasz Sobania tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gustave Souchu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Concetto Di Iulio in the 12th minute of the match. 14 minutes had been played when some careless play by R.C. Marseille's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Andrea Mirto was slow to take the kick. During this time Campania Athletic Club's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Campania Athletic Club's Rodel Francisco to fire away a dangerous shot which Gustave Souchu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Campania Athletic Club's Cane Di Dio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomasz Sobania in the 16th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, R.C. Marseille's goal looked a bit too open when Concetto Di Iulio came free, but Gustave Souchu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustave Souchu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Concetto Di Iulio in the 22nd minute of the match. 25 minutes into the match, R.C. Marseille's goal looked a bit too open when Concetto Di Iulio came free, but Gustave Souchu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustave Souchu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Concetto Di Iulio, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Gustave Souchu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ragnar Vennegoor in the 31st minute of play. The supporters of Campania Athletic Club booed when R.C. Marseille was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Achille Fritsch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gustave Souchu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flavio Desiderio, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Cane Di Dio was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tomasz Sobania showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 39 minute of play. After 42 played minutes R.C. Marseille got a freekick which was hit by Régis Saison. In the 43rd minute, Andrea Mirto sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and R.C. Marseille's Gustave Souchu didn't even have to move. Cyrille Melons short, quick shot in the 47thth minute got Cane Di Dio to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Concetto Di Iulio to strike the kick off in the second half. If Concetto Di Iulio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cane Di Dio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renan Bouzat, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. The corner ended in Renan Bouzat almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Campania Athletic Club's Cane Di Dio did a great save. Flavio Desiderio struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Gustave Souchu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Campania Athletic Club. A hard shot 58 in the game by Flavio Desiderio from a close distance when the talented Gustave Souchu managed to make a qualified save. R.C. Marseille's players were relieved. 64 minutes into the game, R.C. Marseille's Tomasz Sobania nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cane Di Dio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. R.C. Marseille's Fausto Ferrante was substituted for Tomasz Sobania. 68 minutes had been played when some careless play by R.C. Marseille's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. After taking down the ball on Campania Athletic Club's corner Andrea Mirto fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Gustave Souchu quite easily take care of the ball. Flavio Desiderio placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Rodel Francisco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Gustave Souchu made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto Ferrante in the 94th minute of play forced Campania Athletic Club's goalkeeper Cane Di Dio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. R.C. Marseille's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
