Marseille from getting behind. 17 minutes had been played when some careless play by R.C. Marseille's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Didier Têtu was slow to take the kick. During this time En Avant Nikko's players had a chance to rest. Cyrille Melon's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 21stth minute, Gösta Sellberg skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 25th match minute, R.C. Marseille was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Achille Fritsch to maneuver through the defense. In the 26th minute Mourad Durieu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Souchu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marseille's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Gustave Souchu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mourad Durieu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cyrille Melon might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gösta Sellberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cyrille Melon ran back to his position shaking his head. R.C. Marseille's Gustave Souchu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mourad Durieu in the 43rd minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Cyrille Melon made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute En Avant Nikko were awarded a corner. Didier Têtu went to the cornerflag to take it. Mourad Durieu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Gustave Souchu made a huge save. Gösta Sellberg came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by R.C. Marseille's Tomasz Sobania. But to his dismay, Tomasz Sobania quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. 57 minutes into the match, R.C. Marseille's goalkeeper Gustave Souchu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Djamel Malouda. The supporters of En Avant Nikko booed when R.C. Marseille was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cyprien Auguste didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tomasz Sobania struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Gösta Sellberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for R.C. Marseille. Gösta Sellberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cyrille Melon in the 61st minute of the match. Mourad Durieu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustave Souchu having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in En Avant Nikko's zone, Renan Bouzat stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gösta Sellberg came out of the goal and Renan Bouzat tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 72 minutes, Cyrille Melon made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. En Avant Nikko's Gösta Sellberg tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Djamel Malouda in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gustave Souchu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gösta Sellberg came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by R.C. Marseille's Cyrille Melon. But to his dismay, Cyrille Melon quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. With his leg Gustave Souchu managed to avoid a goal in the 79thth minute, when En Avant Nikko's Mourad Durieu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 86 minutes into the match, En Avant Nikko's goal looked a bit too open when Cyrille Melon came free, but Gösta Sellberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Renan Bouzat struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Gösta Sellberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for R.C. Marseille.
