In the 26th minute, Camillo Sciarretta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Damazy Radzyminski received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Silvinho Corrêa made a kick off. Hermínio Figueiredo was slow to take the kick. During this time Independente AC's players had a chance to rest. Sebastiaan Dijkman kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Independente AC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
