If Arnulfo Confesor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Marcelino Panfilo fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT's protests and gave Marcelino Panfilo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 16th minute, Marcelino Panfilo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 17th minute of the match Aquiles Argina sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edelmiro Quinito skillfully saved the ball. Edelmiro Quinito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomás Bordat, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edelmiro Quinito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guaberto Maraman in the 22nd minute of the match. Edelmiro Quinito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnulfo Confesor, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. After 25 minutes, Juan Pablo Gallinas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT and the Vélez Juniors players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 25th match minute, Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Pablo Gallinas to maneuver through the defense. Edelmiro Quinito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnulfo Confesor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Vélez Juniors getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Aquiles Argina hit a great ball. In the 35th match minute, Vélez Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guaberto Maraman to maneuver through the defense. Edelmiro Quinito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aquiles Argina in the 42nd minute of play. In the 47th minute, Juan Pablo Gallinas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 52 minutes, Marcelo Cruz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vélez Juniors and the Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT players grew even worse after the yellow card. Marcelo Cruz hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Vélez Juniors were furious when Juan Galoer was red carded, 54 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After a rather tough play, Vélez Juniors's Juan Galoer got a free kick in the 54th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Vélez Juniors's zone, Marcelino Panfilo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ulises Sandaili came out of the goal and Marcelino Panfilo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT's Edelmiro Quinito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guaberto Maraman in the 58th minute of play. Aquiles Argina recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vélez Juniors made a substitution. Ulises Cristofol replaced Fidel Pietro. In the 69th minute Arnaldo Gau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulises Sandaili saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guaberto Maraman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edelmiro Quinito having to interfere. With a little luck, Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT's Edelmiro Quinito got control of the ball when Tomás Bordat tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT's Osvaldo Turi got a free kick in the 86th minute. In the 94th minute of the match Rigoberto Xacintu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ulises Sandaili skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT booed when Vélez Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomás Bordat didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 95th minute of the match Arnaldo Gau shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ulises Sandaili showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
