After a rather tough play, U21 Belgium's Bram De Maesschalck got a free kick in the 10th minute. 17 minutes into the match, U21 Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Ronald Lammens came free, but Yannis Specht reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yannis Specht came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Netherlands's Nathan Kostermans. But to his dismay, Nathan Kostermans quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Dennis Beerthuis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roni Verheijd in the 22nd minute. Dennis Beerthuis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from William Luyten, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. In the 31st minute, Gerald Dilling left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Yannis Specht showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xavi Simons, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. In the 35th minute of the match U21 Netherlands got a corner. U21 Belgium's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Donald Hoiting ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Ronald Lammens got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Yannis Specht quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 42nd minute, Bram De Maesschalck hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Roni Verheijd fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Belgium's protests and gave Roni Verheijd a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, U21 Belgium's Roni Verheijd got a free kick in the 46th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell William Luyten to make the kick off. Nathan Kostermans could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Yannis Specht made a huge save. With a little luck, U21 Belgium's Yannis Specht got control of the ball when Nathan Kostermans tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 55 played minutes U21 Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Jacco Hoving. Dennis Beerthuis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from William Luyten in the 57th minute of the match. Gerald Dilling recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fred De Scheper hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Yannis Specht made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Gerald Dilling sent off a good shot on target. Bram De Maesschalck hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Donald Hoiting took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 73rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Yannis Specht. U21 Belgium's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, U21 Netherlands's Gerald Dilling got a free kick in the 75th minute. Dennis Beerthuis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Quillian Vereect, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Ronald Lammens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Yannis Specht made a huge save. Nathan Kostermanss short, quick shot in the 79thth minute got Yannis Specht to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 81 minutes into the match, U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Yannis Specht had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jacco Hoving. The supporters of U21 Netherlands booed when U21 Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bram De Maesschalck didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bram Smolders hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Donald Hoiting sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 89th minute Nathan Kostermans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yannis Specht saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Yannis Specht showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nathan Kostermans in the 91st minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as U21 Netherlands's Nathan Kostermans slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Yannis Specht. That made the score 0-3 after 95 minutes of play. The U21 Netherlands players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
