The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Orangeville SC's Fabien Grove got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Monroe Hanley scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of François Hooks, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Fabien Grove sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Ceylon AFC defense, Monroe Hanley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of François Hooks. The Ceylon AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that François Hooks should have stopped the shot. When Kenneth Eddy fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ceylon AFC's protests and gave Kenneth Eddy a yellow card for diving instead. Kenneth Eddy kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Orangeville SC's goalkeeper Gino Fontaine, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Galen Dubose came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Orangeville SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Galen Dubose couldn't finish the play. Kim Provencher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bruno Epperson struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Gino Fontaine didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ceylon AFC. Paris Vaillancourt hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Orangeville SC's zone, Kim Provencher stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gino Fontaine came out of the goal and Kim Provencher tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Monroe Hanley to make the kick off. If Bruno Epperson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Monroe Hanley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. François Hooks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Monroe Hanley might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over François Hooks. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Monroe Hanley ran back to his position shaking his head. Bruno Epperson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Monroe Hanley might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over François Hooks. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Monroe Hanley ran back to his position shaking his head. Bruno Epperson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gino Fontaine having to interfere. After having played for 73 minutes, Bruno Epperson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ceylon AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bruno Epperson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jamaal Manley during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Orangeville SC's Jamaal Manley got a free kick in the 78th minute. After recieving a nice pass, Orangeville SC's Paris Vaillancourt tried to score from far away in the 85th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Monroe Hanley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without François Hooks having to interfere. The Ceylon AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Orangeville SC's performance. The match ended with a win for Orangeville SC.
