After a defensive mix-up in C.S.M. Resita's zone, Hadi Zamani stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Garrett Gladu came out of the goal and Hadi Zamani tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Topsail's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fabrizio Petrucci in the 16th minute. Fabrizio Petrucci made a great header on Topsail's corner, it was just that C.S.M. Resita's Garrett Gladu managed to reach the ball for a save. Garrett Gladu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Runar Myrland went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Garrett Gladu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Calvin Diggs, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. The supporters of C.S.M. Resita booed when Topsail was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amador Weather didn't get a good kick on the ball. When C.S.M. Gregg Vertefeuille charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gregg Vertefeuille the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gregg Vertefeuille kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. After having played for 39 minutes, Calvin Diggs managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Topsail's supporters crossed their fingers, but Calvin Diggs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Garrett Gladu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antal Fodor in the 44th minute of the match. Bill Carmichael made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mariano Lott in the 46th minute. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Antal Fodor was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, C.S.M. Resita's goal looked a bit too open when Calvin Diggs came free, but Garrett Gladu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Topsail's Antal Fodor got a free kick in the 56th minute. Topsail were furious when Fabrizio Petrucci was red carded, 58 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 57 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Topsail! Bill Carmichael went to the wrong direction when Lorenzo Ott was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. 63 minutes into the game, Antal Fodor recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Garrett Gladu. Antal Fodor showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Antal Fodor managed to get in a good position for a shot. Topsail's supporters rose to their feet, but Antal Fodor was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Garrett Gladu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 70th minute, Chong Lamontagne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 71 played minutes C.S.M. Resita got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo Mooney. After 73 minutes C.S.M. Resita's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Borna Šalov who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Topsail's Amador Weather to fire away a dangerous shot which Garrett Gladu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 78 minutes, Garrett Gladu successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 79 minutes had been played when some careless play by C.S.M. Resita's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Borna Šalov was slow to take the kick. During this time Topsail's players had a chance to rest. Garrett Gladu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Antal Fodor went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Calvin Diggs was extremely unlucky when he, in the 87th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Bill Carmichael made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lott in the 93rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in C.S.M. Resita's zone, Antal Fodor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Garrett Gladu came out of the goal and Antal Fodor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Amador Weather came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Topsail fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amador Weather couldn't finish the play.
