Matheus Matorin's late challenge caught a Cangaira's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Matheus Matorin helped the player get up and apologised. Joaquim Luz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 25th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Waldir Sena. Friburguense AC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zé Carlos Vidal in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Waldir Sena saved Friburguense AC from getting behind. The corner led Cangaira's Joaquim Luz to fire away a dangerous shot which Waldir Sena despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The Cangaira fans' excitement grew in the 38th match minute when Cangaira's Angelo Arruda looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Zé Carlos Vidal scored 0-3 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Waldir Sena, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Waldir Sena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Paulo Mesquita in the 46th minute of the match. After the first half Cangaira were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Angelo Arruda stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cangaira's Angelo Arruda got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Cangaira booed when Friburguense AC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulysses Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luís Paulo Mesquita's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 59thth minute, Waldir Sena skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. A collision led to Friburguense AC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Rubinho de Carvalho hit a great ball. With a little luck, Friburguense AC's Waldir Sena got control of the ball when Zé Carlos Vidal tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rubinho de Carvalho in the 68th minute of play forced Cangaira's goalkeeper Denílson de Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the last second Waldir Sena throw himself and got hold of the ball when Angelo Arruda in the 80thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Zé Carlos Vidal who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 81stth minute tested the skills of Waldir Sena when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Waldir Sena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Angelo Arruda, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Angelo Arruda in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Waldir Sena prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Waldir Sena made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Zé Carlos Vidal sent off a good shot on target.
