Honorio Abarca came out of the goal and Javier Olayo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Javier Olayo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. In the 34thth minute of the game Javier Olayo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Independiente FC's Honorio Abarca was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Javier Olayo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Honorio Abarca having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Tacuarendí AFC's Honorio Abarca threw himself towards the right post 38 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Javier Olayo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gilberto Martxot kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Javier Olayo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Honorio Abarca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Javier Olayo came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Tacuarendí AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Javier Olayo couldn't finish the play. Honorio Abarca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Maximo Maties in the 44th minute. 45 minutes into the match, Independiente FC's goal looked a bit too open when Javier Olayo came free, but Honorio Abarca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mauro Raymond stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 58thth minute of the game Javier Olayo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Independiente FC's Honorio Abarca was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 60 minutes into the match, Independiente FC's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Beturian came free, but Honorio Abarca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tacuarendí AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maximo Maties was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Maximo Maties recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Javier Olayo in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Honorio Abarca saved Independiente FC from getting behind. Honorio Abarca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximo Maties, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Javier Olayo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Honorio Abarca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 77 minutes into the match, Tacuarendí AFC's Maximo Maties sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Honorio Abarca narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 87th minute Javier Olayo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Honorio Abarca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 89 minutes, Daniel Bemabe mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Independiente FC and the Tacuarendí AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Independiente FC's Daniel Bemabe got a free kick in the 89th minute. After 90 played minutes, Tacuarendí AFC's Reynaldo Nicholas shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Honorio Abarca came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Tacuarendí AFC reached it. If Maximo Maties had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 94 minutes into the game, Jimeno Teodor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tacuarendí AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independiente FC the free kick. In the 95th minute, Jimeno Teodor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luisito Araoz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Omar Eufrasio having to interfere.
