In the 15th minute Maximo Aimar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiburcio Galindo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tiburcio Galindo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valentin Tome in the 19th minute of the match. Erubiel Acosta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tiburcio Galindo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valentin Tome in the 24th minute of play. Hongo FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 32nd minute, when Cornelio Matai scored to the left of an out of position Hector Hodei, making the score, 2-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Higuerita FC's Cornelio Matai slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Hector Hodei. That made the score 3-0 after 40 minutes of play. If Felix Mattin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

51 minutes into the match, Higuerita FC's goal looked a bit too open when Edelmiro Umbruso came free, but Tiburcio Galindo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Hongo FC booed when Higuerita FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlitos Menem didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hongo FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Clemente Esquipula in the 54th minute. The corner led Hongo FC's Clemente Esquipula to fire away a dangerous shot which Tiburcio Galindo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 58 minutes into the match, Maximo Aimar had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tiburcio Galindo. Higuerita FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maximo Aimar was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Valentin Tome received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Tiburcio Galindo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62ndth minute of the game Valentin Tome who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Higuerita FC's Tiburcio Galindo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 66 minutes, Valentin Tome managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hongo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valentin Tome was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Valentin Tome during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience was convinced that Valentin Tome's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tiburcio Galindo was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. An unexpected shot in the 83rd minute by Valentin Tome got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Erubiel Acosta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Higuerita FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Erubiel Acosta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hector Hodei breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Hongo FC's Honorato Nuno got a free kick in the 91st minute. Higuerita FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
