Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Alec Floyd started the match with the kick off. Sonny Medlin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dale Swift having to make a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sonny Medlin during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Kurt Bullock came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Dover AFC's Bruce Foster. But to his dismay, Bruce Foster quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. 11 minutes into the match, Dover AFC's Alec Floyd sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kurt Bullock narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 15th minute Harry Stockton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dale Swift saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Dover AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Harry Stockton came free, but Dale Swift reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Dover AFC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Joseph Atkinson hit a great ball. After 25 played minutes Dover AFC got a freekick which was hit by Denzil Meehan. Dale Swift showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jamal Hunter in the 28th minute of the match. Harry Stockton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Dale Swift tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Bruce Foster came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Dover AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bruce Foster couldn't finish the play. Alistair Notley kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Bruce Foster could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Kurt Bullock made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Len Bradbury managed to get in a good position for a shot. Matlock's supporters rose to their feet, but Len Bradbury was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dale Swift breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alec Floyd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kurt Bullock having to interfere. Matlock's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Bruce Foster 45 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Sonny Medlin was shown his second yellow card after 52 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Sonny Medlin kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. After 55 played minutes Matlock got a freekick which was hit by Martyn Fawell. When Bruce Foster came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Dover AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bruce Foster couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Martyn Fawell got free with Dale Swift in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dover AFC's Dale Swift proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Dover AFC from getting a goal against them. Alec Floyd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kurt Bullock having to interfere. Jamal Hunter kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Bruce Foster recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 70th match minute, Dover AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruben Staple to maneuver through the defense. In the 71st minute, Stew Clement sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Dover AFC's Dale Swift didn't even have to move. Dale Swift took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jamal Hunter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dover AFC's Dale Swift proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Dover AFC from getting a goal against them. In the 76th match minute, Dover AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richie Tomkins to maneuver through the defense. Harry Stockton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Dale Swift tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dover AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alec Floyd was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kurt Bullock breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dover AFC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
