The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute Kenny Anson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ron Tomkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Archie Greenwood came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Baby Snakes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Archie Greenwood couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Olimpiu Dragnea got free with Ron Tomkin in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Archie Greenwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Cuss having to interfere. A collision led to Goo Goo Dolls getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Teddy Ball hit a great ball. Ron Tomkin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kenny Anson in the 44th minute of play. In the 47th match minute, Goo Goo Dolls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matteo Gillis to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Olimpiu Dragnea made the kick off in the second half. Olimpiu Dragnea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Ron Tomkin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 57 played minutes Goo Goo Dolls got a freekick which was hit by Dominik Smith. With a little luck, Goo Goo Dolls's Benjamin Cuss got control of the ball when Erwin Schrödinger tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 60th minute, Baby Snakes's Erwin Schrödinger ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benjamin Cuss. Benjamin Cuss yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. If Barry Roy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 69th minute of the game. One of Goo Goo Dolls:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Baby Snakes:s goal. Baby Snakes's Genílson Figueiredo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Barry Roy, made in the 72nd minute of the game. After having played for 76 minutes, Archie Greenwood managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Baby Snakes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Archie Greenwood was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Olimpiu Dragnea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Ron Tomkin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Olimpiu Dragnea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ron Tomkin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Baby Snakes's Genílson Figueiredo managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Barry Roy in the 85 minute of the game. When Archie Greenwood came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Baby Snakes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Archie Greenwood couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Goo Goo Dolls players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
