Manfred Fribäck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wu Qi, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Manfred Fribäck didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marcus Skytt went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. 31 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goal looked a bit too open when Wu Qi came free, but Manfred Fribäck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. John Källberg kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Bivall in the 40th minute of play forced Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Manfred Fribäck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd minute Allan Bivall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfred Fribäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Allan Bivall got free with Manfred Fribäck in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 95 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Manfred Fribäck had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wu Qi. The Samurai players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
