Marek Michna was left in no man's land by his defense there! 20 minutes into the match, Fc Brujas's goal looked a bit too open when Glen Saelens came free, but Marek Michna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Glen Saelens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Emiel Roockeloos kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. When Erwin-Alexander Van Hespe fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zegelsem's protests and gave Erwin-Alexander Van Hespe a yellow card for diving instead. After 26 played minutes Zegelsem got a freekick which was hit by Erwin-Alexander Van Hespe. In the 30th minute, Emiel Roockeloos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 31 played minutes, Zegelsem's Erwin-Alexander Van Hespe shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Marek Michna came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Zegelsem reached it. After 34 minutes, Jaques Van Beetz mouthed his way into the referee's book. Zegelsem's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fc Brujas the free kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Glen Saelens managed to get in a good position for a shot. Zegelsem's supporters rose to their feet, but Glen Saelens was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marek Michna breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The supporters of Zegelsem booed when Fc Brujas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carel Jonckers didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marek Michna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Glen Saelens in the 80th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glen Saelens in the 84th minute of play forced Fc Brujas's goalkeeper Marek Michna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 85 played minutes Fc Brujas got a freekick which was hit by Joonatan Robin. Henri Van Wontergem fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remco Feys having to interfere.
